Another return client. After having designed a number of spaces throughout this clients’ home, IDEATE was engaged to redevelop the lower level of their home into a space that their children and friends could use for play, movie and television viewing, and playing/storage of numerous games, toys and sports equipment. A low ceiling height was a major challenge, but through careful design consideration of lighting and ceiling materials, as well as zoning of play spaces, the space that we created affords separate play spaces for several children simultaneously. The finishes and colours are fun and fresh, and there is ample storage for toys behind doors and drawers. As the kids grow and their tastes change, the design will continue to work for them and be a safe haven for them and their friends, out of ear-shot, but within the watchful eye of mom and dad.
