Mid-Century home, out dated kitchen – aesthetically, but more importantly functionally. When first built, the original kitchen would have well served the family occupying the home. With ever-changing lifestyles and an ever-evolving and inventive entertaining approach, we are taking notice of a significantly different footprint for kitchen remodels. Multi-purpose, flexible spaces are the key ingredient to these renovations, allowing groups, both large and small, to be best accommodated. Many designs evolve around a large-scale island – each side of which functioning as a different activity centre – and allowing the space to be a kitchen, a dining room, an office, a bar and a command center for today’s home. The contemporary lines and ultra-cool spatial quality of this kitchen and its detailing are a deliberate contrast to the more rustic and classic lines of the home in which it is now featured. Both can harmonize as our team continued to examine and review the existing home as we proceeded with the detailing of the new kitchen.
