With a number of other day care locations throughout the city, this client has a wealth of knowledge about how to design and operate successful daycares. Having this resource on the team, our designers carefully listened and incorporated her information, experiences and knowledge of successful details into this expansion and renovation of an existing child care space. Allowing for flexibility within a day care environment is key, as spaces need to very quickly transform from play space to nap space, from craft space to lunch space, and so on. Overriding all of this is the need to design a space that inspires and supports the psychological needs of the children as well as the staff – a safe environment that all can feel comfortable in, and able to play, laugh and develop.
