The franchisee of this local coffee shop approached IDEATE with a challenge - the need to develop a prototypical environment for their business adjacent to their existing thriving location. Located within St. Vital Shopping Centre, Winnipeg’s busiest and most desirable indoor mall, this coffee retailer became an integral part of the design team, offering insight into commercial space development and educating the design team about the unique and particular movement patterns and behaviors of his clientele (a group that he has been studying for years). Together, the design team produced a new concept seating lounge for Second Cup customers, allowing a new merchandising opportunity. With a captive audience, provision of specialized display cabinets allows this client to continue to sell product while his customers are still enjoying their previous purchases.
